My goal is to provide an inviting, safe space where we can work together in an authentic approach. I accept Ambetter, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Qual Choice insurances and also work on a self-pay basis. Sliding scale rates can apply for clergy, college-students, educators, first responders, military and retirees.
There are times we get stuck in the challenges, difficulties, and confusion that come our way. Coming to terms with a difficult past, present, or future takes time, courage, and a seasoned professional to help develop a plan for the issues you want to improve in a realistic, attainable manner. We can rebuild together.
If you or someone you love struggle with issues related to: anxiety & depression, aging, grief & loss, life transitions, parenting, couples & relationships, or family discord, it would be my honor to help you attain the growth and goals you desire. I bring hope, compassion, genuineness, and humor to our sessions.
I have been working in professional helping settings for over 28 years-private and public schools, community agencies, church settings, and college campuses. I'm grateful for these varied experiences as it has allowed me to view the many layers our lives hold, the value and power of relationships, and the importance of the integration of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of each of us.
My personal story includes navigating childhood divorce and blended family situations, family mental illness, college athlete, teacher, coach, wife, mother, school counselor, and therapist. Moving several times to different states, and living and traveling abroad, I gained perspectives on change, cultural and regional differences and unexpected challenges. My current season of life includes empty nesting, parent aging and loss.
My experience in school settings has given me extensive insight into adolescent issues and family dynamics. This enables me to understand the stressors, and anxieties that can emanate from social and educational issues that affect adolescents, college students and their families. I have a special passion for cultivating restoration and reconciliation thru communication with youth and emerging young adults.
My latest personal journey brought yoga into my life in 2019 while serving as my father's support system in his last season of life. Yoga helped relieve my stress, made my body feel better, settled and focused me. I took training to becoming a certified yoga teacher at Trailside Yoga here in Fayetteville, and am continuing to practice, learn, seek more training, and enjoy the integrations found in counseling, mindfulness, yoga, and spirituality.
I believe we can add hope and perspective to our lives, and gain insight for challenges from objective relational wisdom that counseling can provide. As we look at our families of origin, personality types, birth order, attachment styles and other factors, we can unlock keys to see our true selves and find solutions to our struggles.
I have been married for 31 years, to my steadfast husband Tommy, and am the mother and mother-in-law of five 20-something wonderful young adults-1 new grandson and another on the way! I enjoy reading real books, the family cat Delilah Mae, yoga, music of many genres, clam chowder, tacos, London Fogs, and leaves in the fall.
Feel free to contact me with any questions, inquiries, or appointment requests. I am in the office Monday-Thursday 10 am-5 pm. 24 hour cancellation notice required or billing occurs.
